I am really fascinated by wood. It possesses both strength and beauty. I try to use both properties in my sculptures. I make my sculptures from wood that has been on the forest floor for years. Due to the degrading effects of molds the coloring of the wood is very intense. I start by removing everything that is rotten. The remaining form determines for a part the final sculpture. The topic of all my sculptures is the human figure. I am satisfied with a sculpture when it has beauty and tension. For me, it is very difficult to define tension in a piece of art. It is more an emotion. I hope that you, as a visitor of this website, will feel something similar when looking at my sculptures.
